The Inside Scoop

How is the year flying by so fast?! Although it feels like it was just yesterday that the leaves were beginning to change colors, we’ve already had our first snow day! Here's an inside scoop on what we've been up to at the studio these past couple months.

First of all, we had such a fun time at MOVE- The Ultimate Dance Convention this year! Our dancers learned from renowned choreographers during two days of progressive classes. This means that choreography continued from the first to second day, so our dancers got to learn more complicated and fully-developed sequences. Needless to say, we can't wait to go back next year!

Our second favorite event of October- Halloween Dress Up Week! Every year it seems that our dancers get even more creative with their costumes. Our Jr. Happy Feet assistant, Sophie, really stepped up her game by arriving to all her classes with a new, unique costume. Thanks for showing us your creativity Sophie!

At the beginning of the month, our Disney Fundraising Team ran another successful fundraising event- The Showcase 2018 Video Premiere. The event included numbers performed by the Dance Company, snacks and drinks, and a super fun photo booth. Thanks to Devon Warren for taking all the photos that night! Speaking of Disney, it's not too late if you want to sign up! The last day to register is Saturday, November 23rd, so this is the last call to join us in July 2020 for a magical trip!

Coming up in November, we're looking forward to a whole bunch of workshops! We're kicking these of with Troy Sexton teaching a hip hop workshop on November 20th. Troy leads a group called Rhythm Works that teaches all things rhythmical at schools and events across Canada. Troy began his career at the age of 19 as a performer with the international percussion group STOMP, as the youngest and only Canadian member in history. Troy has taught many workshops with us before, and we can't wait to have him back again!

Also in November, Jay T. Schramek will be returning to teach two jazz and two musical theater workshops. Jay has been teaching dance for over 25 years and continues to be a respected performer, educator and adjudicator in the dance community. During Jay's workshops last year, our dancers learned not only fun choreography but also gained valuable information about the motivation and mechanics behind dance that allowed them to push themselves to their furthest limits. We cannot be more excited for these workshops!

And finally, the most exciting news of all:

Fun Dance Fact of the Month: As of January 6th, we will be dancing in a new space in Winchester! Our new home at 505 Church Street will have a separate retail section and coat room, allow two classes to run at once in the future, offer places for parents to spend their time while their dancers are in class (enjoy delicious coffee, food and treats at Cup of Jo's, do a little shopping at Main Street Clothing or get your groceries at Foodland!), and have more dance space for all our dancers!

Until next time, keep calm and dance on!
