Welcome one and all to our new and improved website! We are still under construction, so bear with us if there’s anything missing or that has yet to be adjusted. A quick tour of the new site will show you all the general policies you may need (Registration, dress codes, payment information etc.) under the “About” tab. If you happen to miss the monthly Newsletter (emailed out the first of every month), you can find a copy under the Newsletter tab. A brief description of each class, and some photos fresh from Showcase 2018 are what can be expected in the “Classes” section. This is also the home of the schedule. You can meet our directors, faculty and assistants in the “Staff” section, and find contact information in the next. Finally, check out our gallery for some photos and videos to get a feel for who we are here at JWSD-Evolution Inc!
We’ve had a great first month of classes at studio (how time flies!), and now Halloween is just around the corner! We will have a dress up week starting next Wednesday, which always proves to showcase the creativity of our students and make for some exciting classes. As I write this, I can hear Danah playing some Halloween tunes for her tap class to dance to. Thriller, Monster Mash, Ghostbusters- all the necessary songs for the season!
For the fifth year in a row, our studio has participated in MOVE- The Ultimate Dance Convention. This convention is a favourite and features progressive classes, so the choreography from day one is continued to day two. Our students enjoyed busting a move in hip hop classes, grooving with some jazz classes, emoting in their contemporary classes and doing their absolute best in tap. For some people, these tap classes were their first or second time doing this style of dance, but that didn’t stop anyone from laughing, dancing and having fun! This past weekend was extra special because we had a birthday celebration for one of our dancers, Millie! There was some sweet desserts and everything!
Fun Dance Fact of the Month- Did you know that MOVE is an entirely Canadian dance convention, eh? Every choreographer and workshop facilitator is just like us- an overly polite hockey fan who rides their pet moose to school (which is an igloo)! All jokes aside, its pretty cool that Kevin Howe comes from Ottawa, Luther Brown was raised in Toronto and Bree Wasylenko originates from Calgary. Who knows, maybe one of our dancers will be the next choreographer at MOVE!
Until next time, keep calm and dance on!
